A Message from Pastor Gary – October

“The Times They Are a-changin,” wrote Bob Dylan. This was a song and album released in
1964. The 1960s were considered the most tumultuous decade of the twentieth century.

What will the history writers say about the times that we are living in? A pandemic of Biblical proportions, political unrest, new socially acceptable norms, economic concerns, and AI highlight some of the things that might cause us to echo the landmark song by one of the greatest folk/rock singers of all time, “the times they are a-changin.”

Some of the changes we are experiencing seem to have happened all at once and they are shocking; some of the changes we are experiencing have been gradual. In either case, many are seeking the reliable and the predictable.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Heb.13:8) With so much going on around us it’s easy to forget that the God we worship is the God that our parents worshiped and their parents before them. With so much going on around us it’s easy to forget that Jesus was with us in the 1960s and He is with us now. With so much going on around us it’s easy to forget that Jesus is with us for all time. “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

The key to our comfort may rest in asking our eternal Lord three fundamental questions. What are you saying

Lord? Where are you going Lord? What are you doing Lord?

I want to hear from you. I want to follow you. I want to know you.
