For Everything There is a Season
Time is relentless. I can hardly believe that September is upon us already. The stores are displaying school supplies, backpacks, and clothing for the Fall. Soon all of us will be busier, both children and adults alike.
We hope and pray that we are rested and strong enough for the demands ahead. There will be more events, more projects, and more programs to function about. The good news is that we are not alone. Not only do we have a loving God who can do all things through us, but we also have each other. We will do well to embrace the challenges and enjoy our work. We pray for the ability and the willingness to be more like Jesus, to be more selfless than selfish. God never asks anything of us without also giving us what we need to achieve it.
I remember the first day of school when I was starting seventh grade. It was a crisp cool morning. I had new clothes and new school supplies. I was walking to a new school and I felt excited, like I was a new person. It was an adventure that was before me. I wondered who would be in my classes and what my teachers would be like.
We are creatures of habit and we are comfortable doing what we have always done, but maybe we can approach this Fall like it’s a new adventure. Maybe we can recapture that sense of awe and wonder that was our youth.
Time is relentless, but it is also a blessing. Time and time again we are presented with the opportunity to grow in our relationship with Christ. This Fall is a great time to seize that opportunity.
