Until Next Month
There are people you talk to everyday, and some you talk to every week. Still others you may only talk to approximately once a month. As a write to you, I feel like the monthly newsletter affords me the opportunity to talk to you once a month. Of course, I talk to many of you in-person, on the phone, in sermons, in emails, and in text messages.
For some reason though, I am mindful of the possibility that there are some of you who will only hear from me in my newsletter publication this month. That being the case, it seems important to speak about things that really matter. Here’s what comes to mind.
Keep praying for others during this season of Lent. Your prayers matter and they bring healing.
Give yourself a rest from the news. The state of things in the world and in the nation, related to the political and social arenas can have an effect on us. For some it may feel like we are going through a challenging time, but we are headed for a good place. For others it may feel like we are going through a very concerning and disturbing time. In this case, make sure you are feeding your mind, spirit, and soul with the word of God and with the love of God.
The church is like a boat. That’s why the sanctuary is often referred to as the nave. A boat floats and rides on water. Ironically, if too much water gets inside of it, it will sink. The church is in the world, but not of the world. If too much of the world gets inside of you, children of God, you may start to sink. Take care of yourself.
Easter is coming. We are the voices of hope and faith. We are the voices of those who dare to believe in the one who rose from the dead and still lives to bring us life.
The enemy wants to rob, steal, and destroy but Jesus is with us to give us life abundantly. Receive what Jesus has for you. Learn to find your peace in the middle of the storm. Let His resurrection power fill you. Keep on believing. Hope is the joyful expectation that circumstances deny.
Well, I’m a little all over the place with this article. Seems more like a one-sided conversation. I guess if you only get to talk to someone once a month, you want to use the time to say things that may really matter. Talk to you next month.
